The
Vintage Museum has been the display showcase for the Otis Chandler
collection since moving to its present location in 1987. The
45,000 square-foot museum serves as a meeting place for automobile,
motorcycle, train, fine art and wildlife enthusiasts as well
as interested media. The automobile collection includes rare
classic and antique cars and sports cars. There is also an Ahrens-Fox
pumper fire truck; a Mack truck and an 1894 Baldwin steam locomotive.
The significant motorcycle collection spans the museums two
floors along with a large collection of legally hunted big game
trophies from around the world. Fine art depicts automotive
and wildlife scenes.
Otis Chandler's love of vehicles goes back to 1947 and his
first Harley-Davidson Knucklehead, his sole means of transportation
while a student at Stanford University. Following graduation
in 1950, he replaced the Harley with a 1939 Ford coupe, his
first automobile.

During the past 30 years, Otis Chandler's personal love of,
and experience with, automobiles and motorcycles of all types,
has made him a focal point among collectors, historians and
the media. His expert knowledge concerning the rarity and availability
of classic and vintage vehicles has developed over decades.
His program of collecting and the modest agenda of buying and
selling is augmented by the composite knowledge and experience
of his collection support staff. Many vehicles contained in
the Chandler Collection are recognized for their significance
and excellence in national and international competitions and
shows. The primary focus of Vintage Museum now is the exhibition
of an extraordinary Chandler Collection of antique and classic
automobiles and motorcycles with a handful of other vehicles.
